Real Rides Full Iron Distance Cycling Workouts

Penticton Bike Course

Over 5 hours of the Pen­tic­ton Bike Course in this great wind trainer bike work out. All the hills and all the climbs. If you can’t get to the course for train­ing you need this DVD. The first 30 km of this ride can really fool you. If you go out too hard you’re gonna suf­fer in the end.

Four DVD’s and five hours of rid­ing with gear­ing prompts and time clock. You’ll be able to ride the hard parts again and again!


St. George Utah

This Iron distance course is tough. It lulls you into a false sense of complacency and then slaps you in the face hard.

This wind trainer bike workout consists of two parts. The first is a not so
challenging ride through the outskirts of the city of St. George. There are some inclines but nothing worth mentioning and on a clear day the temperature is nice for riding. It’s when you get to the double looped portion of the course that you will find the real challenge.

The scenery is beautiful with lots of rolling hills and one good short but steep climb. Once you reach the highway on the second lap you can count on a down hill run to the finish. Pray the wind is blowing in the right direction.

Coeur d’Alene, ID

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Bike Course will keep you in and out of your seat for a great three hour workout.

This scenic wind trainer bike workout of the northern Idaho double looped course is filled with lots of hills and several technical turns…definitely a challenging ride!

The water temperatures can be cool here even in the middle of summer so you will need to be careful as you warm up on the bike. Too hard and you risk injury when your muscles are cold.

This two DVD set takes you around the two loops of the course. The south route takes you through town and out to the turn around at the bottom of Coeur d’Alene Lake. The second loop negotiates the beautiful wooded hills north of the city around Hayden Lake.

You have to ride both the DVD’s twice to get the in the full 180km.


Tempe Arizona

Tempe Arizona – A great two DVD set that gives you a good overview of the Tempe Bike Course and some of the beautiful Arizona desert all in an indoor wind trainer bike workout.

Another great wind trainer cycling workout. This three lap Iron distance track is flat. A flat course can wear you out just as fast as a hilly one. If you stay in one position for a long time you can really cramp up. A good practice is to sit up every now and then to stretch and give your back a rest, even on the wind trainer.

The three laps consists of two main parts each. The in-town roads are a bit rough in places and there are a lot of turns.

The second part, or what we call the desert loop, heads out north into the desert north of Tempe. You can get a pretty good desert wind out there in the afternoon and that can make your last loop a tiring one.

Training Days Cycling Workouts  

Calgary Chinook Half

Chi­nook Half half dis­tance race in Cal­gary Alberta, Canada. An amaz­ing indoor wind trainer bike work­out on pris­tine roads takes the rider from the out­skirts of Cal­gary into the foothills of the Rocky Moun­tains just out­side of Banff.

Moun­tain weather applies and you can ride through any­thing from high winds and rain, to high heat and humidity.

The Race takes place in July and is a great set-up for any long dis­tance race in the late summer.

There are some big hills on this course so be prepared!

Dewinton Hills

Dewinton Hills – Recently filmed in HD this 45 minute spin is on one of our favourite training routes Dewinton Hills HDin the foothills, which leads to the Rocky Mountains. It ends with a good climb and a fast cool down. If you’re looking for a good fast workout this is the one.

If your in the Calgary, Alberta area and need a quick workout within 10 minutes of the city, this is the one. Gradual climbs eventually take you into some of the steeper foothills. The last climb is a crusher so get ready.

Road to Nepal

This is one killer wind trainer work­out. Located just out­side Cal­gary, Alberta, this hilly wind trainer bike work out fea­tures the Road to Nepal. This is the cyclists name for High­way 773. Twenty big hills out and back will keep you in and out of your seat for just over an hour and a half.

The incline on some of these climbs is gru­elling. You can choose your gear­ing or stand up on every hill with our friend Dave.
Either way, you’re gonna know you had a ride.

For a great train­ing day indoors pick up the Road to Nepal tread­mill run to get your brick in on those snowy win­ter days!


This beau­ti­ful Rocky Moun­tain ride starts just out­side of the small moun­tain town of Bragg Creek, Alberta.

There is very lit­tle warm-up before the road starts to climb into the hills that lead to the Bow Val­ley Pass inside the Banff National Park.

Hard rollers lead to the final climb that is a grinder but the view at the top is worth the effort.
Free range cat­tle can be a haz­ard for this sec­tion of road but it is not uncom­mon to see bear, dear, elk and moose cross­ing the highway.

This is a great 56 minute work­out and one you can ride again and again.

Grand Canyon

This great wind trainer bike­work out starts out from the small town of Grand Canyon and has more hills than you would imag­ine. With a brief stop to clear the park gates we travel to the South Rim and head east before turn­ing back along the rim to loop back to town.

We will hit points along the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon that pro­vide a view, but just long enough to catch your breath!

Treadmill Workout Videos  

The new Real Run­ning Pen­tic­ton tread­mill video.

Filmed along East Side Road going south on Skaha Lake this 1:11 minute HD video is a great work out and has amaz­ing shots of the the route along the lake. If you tak­ing the Chal­lenge this year you can use it with the Pen­tic­ton HD Spin video to make a brick work­out on those days when you just can’t train out doors.

Road to Nepal Treadmill Workout

So, just like our wind trainer work­outs, the Real Run­ning tread­mill work­outs are just no frill, good hard work­outs. The Road to Nepal is our first in this series of runs we will be cre­at­ing from great run­ning routes from across the coun­try and your back yard.

This run can be used in tan­dem with our Road to Nepal spin video and these two videos make up one of our favorite brick work outs. Indi­vid­u­ally they are good hard work­outs but together they are epic, even if the run is only a quar­ter of the actual brick that can be done on this great stretch of highway.
